Ethiopian Ambassador holds talks with General Manager Djibouti’s Doraleh Port

Ambassador of Ethiopia to Djibouti, Berhanu Tsegaye, held discussions with Djama Ibrahim, General Manager of Doraleh Multi-Purpose Port, on ensuring sustainable and efficient transit logistics at the port.

The discussion is a part of the periodic follow-ups and consultations between the Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti and Doraleh Multi-Purpose Port.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two sides discussed the need to further enhance the mechanisms of exchanging vital information on export and import data.

Issues such as operations between relevant entities of both countries with the view to ensuring sustainable and efficient transit of logistics were also discussed.

Last month, Djibouti and Ethiopia signed a Memorandum of Understanding to effectively utilize the Doraleh Multi-Purpose Port’s Livestock Terminal. The agreement paves way for Ethiopia to use the DMP Livestock Terminal as a resting terminal for its live animals export.

On Thursday, the two sides have agreed to step up efforts to fast commence the seamless transportation of exported live animals from Ethiopia via Djibouti to mainly the Middle East.

A joint visit to Ethiopia’s Mille Livestock Quarantine Center with a view to starting the implementation phase was also raised during the audience.

Inaugurated in May 2017, Doraleh Multi-Purpose Port was designed to relieve congestion at the former port of Doraleh.
